Vitamin C

There are three forms of vitamin C commonly used in cosmetics: ascorbyl palmitate, magnesium ascorbyl phosphate, and L-ascorbic acid. Vitamin C is a very important ingredient because of its ability to quench UV-induced free radicals. Besides that, it has a wide spectrum of beneficial effects on the skin recovery. It is used in a treatment of burns and minor cuts, as well as skin diseases like eczema and psoriasis. In addition, vitamin C has been found to stimulate collagen synthesis and to reduce dark pigmentation of the skin (e.g. age spots). The stimulation of collagen synthesis delay the aging process of the skin, therefore vitamin C is an irreplaceable component in a skin care products.
